DIY: 3D AT HOME

You Are Not James Cameron

With the success of “AVATAR” (and by success I mean it made A TON of money), the entertainment industry is trying to ride the hype right into your living room. On July 28th, Panasonic is set to unveil model number AG-3DA1 out of their home base in Tokyo, Japan. Come fall of 2010, this 3D-capable camcorder will be available for market.

It is not the first consumer friendly piece of 3D technology. Recently, some major electronics manufactures have pushed 3D televisions for home theater use. For maximum 3D-age, be prepared to drop some money on a new 3D Blu Ray player, with a whopping 18 titles to choose from!

3D at home? So far, the movie that kickstarted the recent craze took ten years to make and it is the only film that delivered a great 3D experience. As a director, working with this camera would be challenging and I imagine, rewarding. Not for the sake that it’s (movie guy voice) “IN 3D!”, but because how one can and should enhance the story by utilizing the in-camera technology. Whatever the footage, it better be worth it – the camera is listed at $20,000, although Panasonic assures a drop in price.
